GOD HELP YOUR CHURCH

I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one. I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete Unity… John 17:22&23 [NIV].
…, One of you say, ‘ I follow Paul,’ another, ‘I follow Apollos,’ another, ‘I follow Cephas,’ still another, ‘I follow Christ,’ Is Christ divided? … 1 Cor 1: 12&13.
Ephesians chapter four, really explained the mystery of unity in the church. However, till today, this major goal and objective of Jesus on the church has never been actualized. God, even gave gifts to the church, so as to enhance this major objective: unity in the church. However, these gifts have brought in more problems to the church than ever, causing a great division. Why? Because, we have decided to worship the gifts and the personalities holding the gifts- What a diversion. This also happened during the early church, however, God helped them, and everyone was re-directed to the Author and Finisher of the Faith- Jesus.
Today, we have diversity of denominations postulating divers doctrines, gifts and gifting, we don’t even know which is purely from God and which is not. We protect our image and our members and condemn others from other denominations. Are we still Christ’s? Is this the kind of Church Christ will be coming for? Ephesians 4:4-6&13 say, ‘Just as you were called to one hope…, one Lord, one faith, one baptizing, one God and father of all. Untill we all reach the unity of the faith and in the knowledge of the son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. In the church today, we have many immature Christians who prove they are more mature and holy than others. They have attained so great a position in churches that they can’t be corrected. We hide under the umbrella of leadership[above all]. They don’t want to go further and they don’t want other Christians to move further. They use position to enslave the church. One thing is that while the world sees leadership, we the kingdom of God, see service. They condemn others, they alone can hear from God and they alone have the Holy Spirit, while others do not. Even within the church, we persecute ourselves, we stumble on each other, we molest ourselves and are happy for each other’s downfall, we ourselves make mockery and kill our wounded soldiers. What a predicament- O LORD save your church! We drive those within the folds, to no where they go and we don’t care, and those outside refuse to come in, because the church has been a place of no comfort. No increment in the church, rather we[members] migrate and diffuse like blindfolded ants from one church and denomination to another. we make ourselves sick and bring heart ache to the throne of grace for purpose mis-defined. We render services and praise full of strives, jealousy, bitterness, malice, internal wars, etc. We try to molest and ruin others when we discover they are more spiritually prosperous than we are, or we cannot do what they are doing. The church which supposed to be a place of peace and refuge becomes a tormenting zone for all those who come in.
May the Church lift up their voices to GOD and cry, ‘LORD COME HELP YOUR CHURCH! Where do you fall: a builder or a destroyer? May the Holy Spirit search you through and thoroughly, purging you and making you a builder of his kingdom in Jesus name-amen.
